    Christmas
    In the mood for Christmas
    Every year, our school hosts a Xmas Party, a very popular event for students, during which the English teachers hold special, Christmas-themed English lessons. Our students start the preparations from the beginning of December by memorising and performing a popular Christmas hit or a play in English. In the last week of school, the groups perform their shows for each other and then celebrate Christmas with games, cookies and singing English Xmas songs together.

    The Great Gatsby
    The Great Gatsby is a novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, which dates back to the early 1920’s. The whole story attempts to express the beauty and illusion of the American Dream. The narrative escorts Nick Carraway, a young and successful man, who had recently moved to Long Island. He becomes seized by the wealth and mystery around his neighbour, Jay Gatsby. He is broadly recognised of the luxurious celebrations he holds in his mansion. He only acts this way in order to awe his past romance Daisy Buchanan, Nick’s cousin and now a married woman. While Gatsby is on his way to charm Daisy, suspense rises between Gatsby and Daisy’s husband, Tom Buchanan. The novel ends with the collapse of Gatsby’s so called empire and is a judgment towards society’s moral state. Fortunatley, on the 21st of January we had the oportunity to experience this frequently twisted literary work of art, performed by highly gifted actors and actresses in their mother’s tounge. Their overall acting and attitude made this performance an unforgettable experience for all of us in the audience.
